Thenmala

Thenmala  is a tourist place near Punalur town, Kollam district in Kerala. Thenmala is the first planned eco-tourism destination in India. The Thenmala dam was built across Kallada River. Thenmala is famous for being the shooting location in Malayalam and Tamil movies.

Thenmala attracts foreign and domestic tourists with a host of attractions. Boating on the lake, a rope bridge, trekking, mountaineering, biking and a musical fountain. Thenmala is approachable both from Trivandrum and Punalur by road. The waterfall called Palaruvi is a prime attraction nearby. Also nearby is a deer rehabilitation center where visitors can see deer in a forest setting and have a peep into a traditional tree house used by forest dwellers to escape harm from wild animals.


Perunthenaruvi

Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls are waterfalls 15 km from Pathanamthitta in Pathanamthitta District, Central Travancore region, Kerala State, India. It is a popular tourist destination.

The name "Perunthenaruvi" means "The Great Honey Stream".

Located on the Western Ghats of the Sahyadri Range, Perunthenaruvi is famous for the waterfalls there. The waterfalls are known for their wide area, rather than their height. The stream later unites with the Pamba River.


Aranmula

Aranmula is about 128 km from Trivandrum, capital city of Kerala, the south western state in India. It is situated on the banks of the river Pampa. Traditions, cultural variations, traditional village life, sceneries are unique for Aranmula. It is a suburb of Kozhencherry in Pathanamthitta District. It is the venue of the annual snake boat race on the Pampa river. Aranmula is also famous for its metal mirrors, known as Aranmula kannadi. The palace at aranmula (Aranmula kottaram) has a history of 200 years.

Maniyar is a small town in Pathanamthitta district, in Kerala state, India. Maniyar is located on the Pathanamthitta - Seethathodu Road. Geographically Maniyar is High-range area. Maniyar Dam is located near to the township. It is mainly a Plantation Township. Both state run Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and privately operated buses connect Maniyar to Pathanamthitta City. The famous power house named carborandum universal Ltd is situated in Maniyar. Maniyar is a beautiful place with nature friendly atmosphere. .


Sabarimala

Sabarimala is a Hindu pilgrimage center located in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of Pathanamthitta District in Kerala. It is the largest annual pilgrimage in India with an estimated 45–50 million devotees visiting every year. Sabarimala is believed to be the place where the Hindu God Ayyappanmeditated after killing the powerful demoness, Mahishi. Ayyappan's temple is situated here amidst 18 hills. The temple is situated on a hilltop at an altitude of 468m (1535ft) above mean sea level, and is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Temples exist in each of the hills surrounding Sabarimala. While functional and intact temples exist at many places in the surrounding areas like Nilackal, Kalaketi, and Karimala, remnants of old temples survive to this day on remaining hills.


Konni

Konni is an important junction on the Muvattupuzha-Punalur route. It is about 11 km from the district headquarters. It is an important center for cash crops like rubber, pepper,  coffee and ginger which form the backbone of the agricultural economy of the state. Konni assembly constituency is part of Pathanamthitta (Lok Sabha constituency).

The lush green land has been prominent as a haven of wild elephants and as an elephant training centre. The large area of thick forest with wild animals has now made Konni emerge as another tourist spot for safaris and trekking. Konni is also known for its elephant rides. Konni is the gateway to the forest bordering the district. In the past, wild elephants caught from the forests were brought here and put in wooden cages known as 'Aanakoodu' (Elephant Cage) to be tamed and trained for work. In Kerala there are two elephant training centers, the other located at Kodanad.

Maramon is a small town on the Pampa River, opposite to Kozhencherry town in the state of Kerala, India. It is 12 km from the Pathanamthitta district headquarters, the town of Pathanamthitta. Maramon is famous because of the Maramon Convention, the largest Christian gathering in Asia. Maramon is said to be the birth place of Marthoma Sabha.

The town Maramon is generally recognized as center of Christian culture and influence in India. Maramon is also famous as the birth place of 'Palakkunnathu'Abraham Malpan (Malpan means teacher), leader of the reformation in the Syrian Church of Malabar in the 19th century. The Mar Thoma Sabha is headed by Most Rev Philipose Mar Chrisostem Marthoma Metropolitan and Most Rev Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan.


Kotta Vanchi

The kotta vanchi ride (bowl boat / coracle boat) is arranged in Kallaar river at adavi and the main attraction is the lush green forest in the banks and if you are very lucky, you may spot wild elephants, but the chances are very rare.

The ride is open all the day including Sunday and Monday. Monday Konni elephant cage is closed.
